Aim and Scope of the Conference

The rapid progresses in fluid mechanics at the turn of century calls the Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics to organize in time the Fourth International Conference on Fluid Mechanics (ICFM-IV) in Dalian from July 28 to 31, 2004. Its objective is to provide a forum for researchers to exchange the original ideas and recent advances in their respective research on fluid mechanics or relevant interdisciplinary subjects. The Conference is also intended to promote interactive discussion and dialogue among scientists and engineers on commonly interested problems in the field. The themes of ICFM-IV are focused on both traditional and challenging topics in the 21st Century. The scope of the present Conference covers the following areas:

1. Flow Instability and Turbulence

2. Aerodynamics and Gas Dynamics

3. Hydrodynamics

4. Industrial and Environmental Fluid Mechanics

5. Biofluid Mechanics

6. Geophysical Fluid Mechanics

7. Plasma and Ferrofluid Dynamics and Magneto-Hydrodynamics

8. Multiphase Flows, Non-Newtonian Flows, and Flows in Porous Media

9. Flows of Reacting Fluid

10. Microscale Flows

Famous leading scientists in the world fluid mechanics community are invited to deliver lectures on the frontier topics of concerned field and branches on the occasion.
